(a) Whenever local authorities determine, on the basis of public safety, that the speed limit permitted within the city limits of Inman, Kansas, is greater or less than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon the street and within school zones, the city may determine and declare a reasonable and safe speed limit thereon, which may be greater or less than the speed limit permitted generally within the city for business or residential districts, and shall be effective when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected upon said street or part of a street.
(b) No person shall drive a vehicle within the area marked as a school zone at a speed greater than 20 MPH between the hours of 7:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., or during such other times as may be designated by the school zone signs or flashing lights. The school zones may be so designated by signs and/or flashing lights.
(c) The speed limit on any streets marked as school zones within the city limits of Inman, Kansas, is designated as 20 MPH.

(a) Definitions:
(1) Motor Vehicle. Every vehicle, other than a motorized bicycle or a motorized wheel chair, which is self-propelled.
(2) Trailer. Every vehicle with or without automotive power, designed for carrying persons or property and for being drawn by a motor vehicle.
(3) Park or Parking. Means the standing of a motor vehicle or trailer, whether occupied or not, otherwise than temporarily for the purposes of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading property or passengers.
(4) Street or Highway. The entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly maintained when any part thereof is open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel. Where the word “highway” or the word “street” is used in this section, it shall mean street, avenue, boulevard, thoroughfare, trafficway, alley and any other public way for vehicular travel by whatever name unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to park any motor vehicle or trailer for a period longer than 48 hours continuously in the same place on the streets of the City of Inman.
(c) Any police officer is hereby authorized to remove or cause to be removed to a place of safety any motor vehicle or trailer parked on the streets of the City of Inman for more than 48 consecutive hours. The police department shall not release or surrender any such towed motor vehicle or trailer to the owner or operator of the same, until all towing and storage expenses have been paid.

(a) For the purpose of this section, the following definitions shall apply:
(1) Bus: A large motor-driven passenger vehicle capable of carrying greater than thirty-five {35) passengers at one time or having a Gross Vehicle Weight {GVW) in excess of 10,000 pounds, being used for the transportation of people for school, church or other public use.
(2) Large Truck: A _large motor-driven vehicle which is over nine (9) feet in height, having more than a single rear axle or having a Gross Vehicle Weight in excess of 10,000 pounds.
(b) In order to provide a safer environment and less damage to the city streets, it shall be unlawful to operate or park any vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight in excess of 10,000 pounds, or any large truck, semi-truck, semi-trailer, tractor trailer, trailer, tractor, or bus on a residential street in a residential area within the city limits of Inman with the following exceptions:
(1) During the process of loading or unloading such vehicle, such as a moving van or delivery vehicle conducting business at said location.
(2) During the time such vehicle is used to perform routine or emergency maintenance to utilities, transportation facilities, or private property.
(3) During the time such vehicle is used to perform the construction of utilities, transportation facilities, or private property.
(c) Any person, corporation, or any other entity violating the provisions of this ordinance shall pay a fine of $150 plus court costs upon the first conviction. Citation for any subsequent offense(s) may require a mandatory court appearance and a larger fine set by the municipal court.
